Esports is organized video game competitions in which individuals or teams may compete against one another in a specified game. Michigan Esports is an organization that oversees the formation and operations of each video game’s competitive teams. These teams are comprised of current University of Michigan students and compete in collegiate level esports competitions across various leagues and game titles!
The University of Michigan Esports program, housed under Michigan Recreation, is a vibrant hub for competitive gaming, fostering community, competition, and well-being among students. With over 1,800 members on its Discord server and 9 sponsored game titles, including League of Legends and Valorant, the student-run program offers varsity and junior varsity teams that compete in top-tier collegiate tournaments.
By integrating with Michigan Recreation’s mission to promote holistic health, the program provides a dynamic space for students to connect, develop teamwork skills, and engage in wellness-focused initiatives, ensuring gaming is both a passion and a path to personal growth.
