North Campus Recreation Building

Open recreation volleyball will be available on court 2 beginning 9/15.

The NCRB Gym Courts will be unavailable for open recreation on Saturday, October 24th (all day) and Sunday, October 25th (9:30am-6:00pm).

Located at the corner of Hubbard and Murfin Avenues near Bursley Hall and Northwood apartments, the NCRB features everything you need in a fitness facility.

Facility Access

Enter through the main entrance at the corner of Hubbard Rd. and Murfin Ave. Limited paid parking is available in front of the entrance. University of Michigan students and Recreational Sports members must present a valid Mcard or Recreational Sports Member Card each visit to gain access to a facility.  Visit our Policies for more information on Facility Access.

Badminton

Times Offered

Available on the following days. Please visit the Facility Schedules and Open Recreation Hours link above for badminton hours. Schedules are subject to change due to Michigan Recreation programs, special events and reduced facility hours for designated breaks/holidays.

September 9, 2026 – December 20, 2026

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday (2 courts)

Details

Racquets and shuttlecocks can be checked out at the Michigan Recreation Welcome Center.

Games are played to 21 points.

Basketball

Times Offered

Available during all facility hours, however previously scheduled activities or rentals have priority for space over open basketball.

Basketball will not be available on evenings when badminton is scheduled for eight courts or when volleyball is scheduled for four courts.

Please consider using the Intramural Sports Building during these times.

Basketballs can be checked out at the Michigan Recreation Welcome Center.

Games are played to 11 points by 1’s and 2’s.

Boxing

Times Offered

Heavy bag and speed bag are available at all facility hours.

Cardio Exercise

Times Offered

Drop-in exercise available during all facility hours. Check out our cardio-focused Group‑X classes, too.

Handball, Squash, Racquetball

Times Offered

Available during all facility hours.

Details

Racquets and balls can be checked out or purchased at the Michigan Recreation Welcome Center.

Games are played to 21 points.

Reservations can be made anytime for play later that day.  Next day reservations are also accepted no more than 72 hours in advance. Court reservations can be made online through our webstore/app, in person or by phone at (734) 763-4560 .

Pickleball

Times Offered

Available during the following hours, however schedules are subject to change due to Michigan Recreation programs, special events and reduced facility hours for designated breaks/holidays.

Monday through Thursday 2:00-5:30pm (4 courts)

Running & Jogging

Times Offered

1/10th-mile indoor track available during all facility hours.

Swimming

Times Offered

Lap swim is available during most facility hours.

Details

Aqua joggers, kick boards and pull buoys are available for use. Goggles and swim caps can be purchased at the Michigan Recreation Welcome Center.

Volleyball

Times Offered

Available on the following days. Please visit the Facility Schedules and Open Recreation Hours link above for volleyball hours. Schedules are subject to change due to Michigan Recreation programs, special events and reduced facility hours for designated breaks/holidays.
