Adventure Pass

All renters will need an Adventure Pass to rent and reserve gear.  For Michigan Recreation Members (including all actively enrolled students) and those paying by departmental shortcode, the Adventure Pass is free. Those without a Michigan Recreation membership can purchase an Adventure Pass for $15/semester to be able to rent our equipment.

When you buy your pass, you agree to the Adventure Leadership Resource Center policies, including but not limited to late fees, damage, and replacement costs. (More information about these policies can be found under Policies.) All pass sales are final and non-refundable.

If you have a U‑M unique name, you can purchase your pass by signing into your university unique name on the M Recreation website. Under Membership, it will generate the option to purchase an Adventure Leadership Pass. This pass will be automatically adjusted in price depending on your M Recreation membership status.

If you DO NOT have a U‑M unique name (including those with a U‑M Friend Account), you can purchase your pass by requesting that we set up a Michigan  Recreation account for you by submitting this form. Once we have received your completed form, we will set up your account—typically within 1–3 business days—then you can login and proceed with purchasing your Adventure Leadership pass. If you have follow up questions or have no login information by 3 business days email us at [email protected].

You may purchase your pass online.

How to Reserve Equipment

Whether you’re planning a weekend camping trip, a backpacking expedition, or just trying a new outdoor activity, our gear rental program can help you get outside. To provide the best service possible, all rentals are coordinated through an appointment-based system. Submit your gear request, schedule a pickup appointment, and reserve a return time—we’ll help you get equipped for your next adventure!

  1. Look at our list of equipment to decide what you’ll need, then purchase an Adventure Pass.
  2. Ready to rent outdoor adventure equipment (gear)? Book a Pickup Appointment. In this form, you will:
    • Select a pickup appointment time
    • List all equipment you would like to rent
    • Provide any size, quantity, or trip details needed for your reservation
Our team will review your request, confirm equipment availability, and follow up with any questions.   To pick up your equipment, you must be 18 years or older and bring a photo ID and payment method (no cash).
  3. After submitting your rental request, schedule a separate Return Appointment for the date and time you plan to return your gear. Once your return date arrives, return your equipment cleaned, dried, and packed. Late, damaged, or missing equipment may result in additional charges.
